KOSMOS – the New Cultural Center
Opening this September, KOSMOS is a place for contemplation, discourse, entertainment, and enjoyment. It comprises an event forum complete with stage, a spacious bistro, six movie theaters and auditoriums, a bar with a club and a view over the train tracks, a book salon housing a store and café, a sunny serviced piazza, and a shady inner courtyard surrounded by greenery for hot days. But KOSMOS aims to be much more than simply the sum of its services and offerings it also unites leisure and business, excitement and relaxation. It is a contemporary meeting place for casual city strollers, culture buffs, intellectuals, bon vivants, and those thirsty for knowledge.

Late Night at Zurich’s Museum
The diversity offered by Zurich’s museums is virtually endless, so what better opportunity could there be to discover this than during the Late Night event. On Saturday, September 2, a total of 46 museums will be inviting visitors to embark on a night-time journey of discovery. Exhibitions, collections, and a varied program of activities turn night into day. Whether art, design, cultural history, science, foreign cultures, plants, or animals – the colorful choice of themes offers something to suit every interest. Besides renowned museums such as the Kunsthaus Zürich, the National Museum, or the Museum Rietberg, less widely known establishments are opening their doors, too – including the Alterthümer-Magazin (antiquities storage), the Musée Visionnaire or the Gottfried Keller Exhibition, to name but a few. Also taking part this year as guest museums are the Entomological Collection of the ETH Zurich and the Swiss Finance Museum, which opened just recently in June.

Second Edition of FOOD ZURICH
Over period of 11 days from September 7–17, more than 150 events will be celebrating Zurich as a culinary hotspot, as a meeting place for gourmets, inquisitive gastronomes, and families – in short, as a paradise for everyone who loves good food. Culinary delicacies are cooked and eaten in all conceivable locations – in established restaurants, as well as in a tunnel, a museum, a castle or private apartments. They cover the entire spectrum of the art of cooking, from fine food to social food, to street food. Many of the events invite foodies of all ages to take an active part, whether in cookery courses, workshops or food tastings.

Things promise to hot up at the Air Force Center in Dübendorf from September 14 to October 22. “Act Seven” of Gregory Knie’s show, “Ohlala”, embarks on a journey to explore all the senses – an unforgettable experience to hear, see, smell, taste, and touch. This spectacular extravaganza excites each of the seven senses, sets the whole body tingling, and arouses long forgotten memories. Foreplay desired? A three-course dinner, a romantic flight, and the VIP Heaven Box are also part of the supporting program.

slowUp Zürichsee
On September 24, between 10.00am and 5.00pm, the street along Lake Zurich from Meilen via Rapperswil-Jona to Schmerikon is open exclusively to non-motorized vehicles. This event offers all cyclists, inline skaters and pedestrians a wonderful opportunity to discover the nature and the region on the outskirts of the city. The asphalt route is flat and therefore suitable for people of all ages. There is also a broad culinary and cultural program on offer along the 28km (17 mile) long festival site.

Winterthur’s Museums Invite to a Night of Culture
The second Winterthurer Kulturnacht takes place on Saturday, September 23. At this event, 15 cultural institutions open their doors between 4.00pm and 11.00pm, offering diverse special programs. Balkan beats in the photo gallery, physics experiments in the concert villa, an art project at the Gewerbemuseum – the interplay between different art forms and organizers make the Culture Night a very special occasion.

Zurich Film Festival
It is one of the cultural highlights of the year in Zurich, and long since a mega event that resonates through all of Switzerland and far beyond. From September 28 to October 8, the Zurich Film Festival ‒ now in its 13th year ‒ once again brings exclusive gala premieres with a host of movie stars and the latest films by up-and-coming talent to Zurich from all over the world. The ZFF is a meeting place for the international movie industry, movie makers and movie stars. This year, US actress Glenn Close will be present to collect her Golden Icon in person.
