Pride in Zurich
On June 9 & 10, the Swiss LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community is once again flying the flag by staging the Zurich Pride Festival at the Kasernenareal. In hopefully summer temperatures, groups such as Culture Beat will be taking to the stage and turning up the heat even further. Derrick Barry (RuPaul’s Drag Race) promises to fire up her fans with a touch of Las Vegas glamor. Naturally there is plenty of other entertainment, too, as well as numerous food and drink stands. Everyone is welcome – including to take part in the large demonstration march through the inner city on the Saturday afternoon. Under the motto of “NO FEAR TO BE YOU”, the event organizers aim to draw attention to the situation of LGBT refugees. Admission to the Kasernenareal is free of charge throughout the entire weekend.

lauschig – wOrte im Freien
The series of open air, literature and spoken word events entitled “lauschig – wOrte im Freien” is held for the third time from June 17–September 1 in various gardens in Winterthur. This year’s program is characterized by its diversity: the youngest author, Fatima Moumouni, is just 25 years old, while the oldest, Eveline Hasler, is aged 83 years. The cozy evenings with readings by authors and spoken word performances are held in enchanted parks and gardens. The concept of this project – the interlinking of literature, music and nature – is unique and has met with great enthusiasm since it started in 2015. All of the events are invariably quickly sold out.
