New 25hours Hotel on Langstrasse
Zurich’s second 25hours Hotel is to open at the intersection between the bustling Langstrasse and the new Europaallee quarter. The hotel, with its 170 guest rooms, lies directly next to the railway tracks in front of the Main Train Station and underscores the stark contrast between banks and red light district, and between art and commerce. At the heart of the hotel are the eclectic NENI restaurant and the Cinchona Bar, situated on the ground floor, offering a meeting place for hotel guests and visitors alike. The hotel is scheduled to open on April 1.

Zurich Beer Festival
The Zurich Beer Festival is the first and largest event of its kind in the city, and takes place for the fourth time from April 7–9. This year, there are 200 national and international beers offered by 27 breweries and importers to be discovered. In addition, there are workshops, a competition, a beer art exhibition, a festival store and various food stands. The event features a large and above all diverse range of beers, and allows visitors to sample beer in a relaxed ambiance and become acquainted with numerous new flavors.

Zurich Makes You Run
On April 9, 2017, the Zurich Marathon invites sports lovers to take part in a race through the fastest city in Switzerland. A fantastic backdrop of Zurich’s inner city and lake, coupled with a vast international field of runners, promise perfect conditions for the competitors and plenty of excitement for spectators. The Zurich Marathon is popular among both professional athletes and amateurs, and offers a unique running experience in and around Zurich. Besides the traditional marathon, there is a city run over a distance of 9.85 kilometers (6 miles) and a team run for groups of four runners.

Pink Apple Film Festival
Switzerland’s largest gay and lesbian film festival takes place from April 26 to May 4 at various movie theaters and other venues in Zurich. Every year, Pink Apple attracts almost 10,000 visitors and over a period of nine days presents feature, documentary and short movies on gay and lesbian themes from dozens of countries. The supporting program includes podium discussions, exhibitions and parties. In its 20th edition, Pink Apple goes on a journey back through the past 20 years, featuring music, literature and – to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation – religion.

Sechseläuten – Zurich’s Spring Festival
From April 21–24, local residents join Zurich’s guilds in celebrating their traditional spring festival with great élan. Under the motto, “Glarnerland – simply magnificent”, Glarus is taking part in Sechseläuten as guest canton for the second time after 1995. Over the course of four days, Glarus specialties and a broad cultural program can be enjoyed on the Lindenhof. In addition, distinguished guests and traditional costume societies from Glarus will march to the bonfire alongside members of the Zurich guilds and brass band ensembles. The highlight of the event occurs on the Monday at 6.00pm, when the Böögg snowman figure is set alight on Sechseläutenplatz in front of around 4,500 spectators.
