Ice-Skating by Zurich Main Train Station
From November 26 to January 2, one of the biggest Christmas events in Switzerland will be staged for the 11th time at the National Museum Zurich – “Live on Ice”. A romantic ice-skating rink has been set up in the middle of the courtyard of the castle-like building, directly next to the Main Train Station. The wide choice of culinary delights, coupled with the magical ambiance, invite guests to celebrate and have fun. Ice skates can be hired on location and admission is free.

Holy Cow! Opens Food Court in the Heart of Zurich
Following the successful launch of the Holy Cow! restaurant on Langstrasse, Parsaco Consulting is now opening its first food court in German-speaking Switzerland. From December 1, customers can savor a mouth-watering diversity of new international restaurant concepts at Löwenstrasse 51. For here, not only the Holy Cow!, but also Burrito Brothers and Funky Chicken, will be offering fresh, regional and top-quality produce sourced in Switzerland.

Top Spanish Gastronomy in Winterthur
Galician Gourmet Extravaganza is bringing highly-acclaimed chefs, outstanding wineries and the finest Galician meats, fish and seafood specialties to London, Paris and New York. On December 12, the food fair is stopping off at the Hotel Banana City in Winterthur, where between 10.00am and 6.00pm Galician producers will present their gourmet products. The event will be opened by the Spanish Ambassador, Bernardo de Sicart Escoda. It geared exclusively towards representatives from the gastronomy and hotel sector and admission is solely by prior written reservation.

Floating Candles on the River Limmat
The best way to enjoy the traditional Lichterschwimmen event on December 22 is wrapped up warmly in thick coats, gloves and hats. At 6.00pm precisely, hundreds of tiny candle boats set off on their journey down the river. Lichterschwimmen has been held annually for over 50 years and never fails to enchant guests and locals alike. It is organized by Zürich Tourism under the patronage of the School and Sports Department of the City of Zurich. Schoolchildren from all over the canton make the tiny boats and launch them into the water as a cheery Christmas greeting.

Join thousands of others at Zurich’s lake basin and celebrate, enjoy yourself and admire the fireworks display by Swiss Casinos Zürich against a spectacular backdrop. This year, the grand New Year’s Eve Party on December 31 by Lake Zurich once again promises to enthrall guests from both home and abroad. The Ludicious Zürich Games Festival returns for a third edition from January 26–29 at the Kasernenareal. The biggest professional game event in Switzerland, Ludicious presents the latest digital games by new game designers and emerging talents over a period of four days. Trade visitors can attend the three-day conference talks with international experts and networking events. The family program, “Ludicious Family”, at the weekend offers free workshops, exhibitions and presentations for children, young people and adults on the theme of digital games, and gives visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the digital world.

The Very Best of Equestrian Sport
From January 27–29, the Mercedes-Benz CSI Zürich – the World Cup tournament featuring the highest prize money and most prestigious participants in the world – brings international equestrian stars with their best thoroughbreds to Zurich and treats spectators to horse-jumping at the highest level. In addition, horses, ponies, donkeys, cows, goats, sheep, dogs and ducks enchant with their performances in a daily show. This is all underscored by Swiss folk music by the group, Oesch’s die Dritten, and presented with plenty of humor by the comedy duo, Oropax.
