Opening of new extension at the Swiss National Museum in Zurich
The Swiss National Museum in Zurich is one of the city's top attractions, appealing to amateur historians, culture lovers and architecture enthusiasts alike. Summer 2016 marks the next phase in the history of Gustav Gull's landmarked 19th century house, with the opening of a new extension designed by architects Christ & Gantenbein. Currently on show at the National Museum are the permanent exhibitions “Swiss Archaeology” and “Swiss History”, the Collections Gallery, and the temporary exhibition “Europe during the Renaissance: Metamorphoses 1400 – 1600.”

The ultimate party by the lake
Every year, the biggest and brightest house and techno parade in the world draws hundreds of thousands of dance lovers to Zurich from all corners of the globe. On 13 August, 30 Love Mobiles – colorfully decorated trucks packed with massive sound systems, DJs and party people – will once again cruise along the banks of Lake Zurich. Contemporary electro fans can also enjoy top DJs, live acts and multimedia displays at eight large stages along the route.

41st Winterthur Music Festival
Four stages, 70 acts – and almost all for free! At the 41st Winterthur Music Festival from 17 to 28 August, music lovers can wander from stage to stage through the Winterthur old town, alternating between dance lessons, street music and an open air cinema. The live music festival celebrates up-and-coming talent with a carefully coordinated program featuring a wealth of Swiss music stars and international newcomers. Tom Odell, Irie Révoltés, Frank Turner and Pennywise are just some of the names on the line-up for the main weekend.

Spectacular scenes on Lake Zurich
The Theater Spektakel returns to the Landiwiese park from 18 August to 4 September, with more than 40 theater, dance, circus and music productions from around the world lining up to showcase their skills at the highlight of the Zurich summer. Right on the banks of Lake Zurich, the lush festival grounds include six venues as well as bars and restaurants where guests can relax and soak up the festival atmosphere. Family fun, street entertainment and thrilling concerts all combine to make the Theater Spektakel Zurich's best-loved cultural festival.

Ironman registration now cheaper 
Every year, thousands of athletes from more than 60 countries compete in the IRONMAN Zurich Switzerland, battling their way through a grueling 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycle and 42.2 km run. The two-day event sees the national and international elite flock to Zurich, cheered on by enthusiastic spectators as they take part in the thrilling triathlon competition around Landiwiese and Lake Zurich. The prices for next year’s event have been revised: the entry fee for IRONMAN Zurich Switzerland on Sunday, July 30 2017 is now just CHF 595 rather than CHF 690 for registrations before July 31 2016. Athletes who register for both Swiss IRONMAN events (IRONMAN Zurich Switzerland 2017 and IRONMAN 70.3 Switzerland 2017) by November 30 2016 will also benefit from an extremely attractive package price.
