Year of the Garden 2016 in Zurich
In urban areas, wide open spaces such as gardens, parks, squares and green zones contribute greatly to the quality of life and of residential developments, as well as to biodiversity. They create opportunities to relax and interact socially, and strengthen the identity of a place. GrünStadtZürich and the Museum Rietberg are two of the partners participating in the campaign, “Year of the Garden 2016 – Space for Encounters”, with various exhibitions and numerous events. The nationwide campaign aims to promote the preservation and development of open spaces and gardens and to highlight their role in ensuring quality of life in high-density urban areas.

Dada Afrika
The exhibition, “DADA Africa”, will be held from March 18 to July 17 as part of the celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of Dadaism. It examines for the first time a hitherto little-researched topic: the Dadaists’ preoccupation with non-European art and culture. Materials, forms, texts and music from Africa, Oceania, Asia and America served as sources of inspiration and a reference for abstraction and originality. The exhibition is a cooperation between the Museum Rietberg in Zurich and the Berlinische Galerie.
